BEIJING, April 30 (Xinhua) -- A mainland spokesperson on Friday warned diehard elements seeking "Taiwan independence" in Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities that they could face severe punishment.
Justice may be delayed but not denied, said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, in response to recent remarks made by a DPP official in pursuit of so-called "Taiwan Independence."
Calling the behavior a verbal provocation and a low-down trick, Ma said it has laid bare the fact that DPP authorities and secessionists are willing to bow down to anti-China forces, serving as their chess pieces and seeking cross-Strait confrontations.
It proves that such attempts and provocations are the root cause that has put cross-Strait peace at risk, he said.
Reiterating that the mainland will not budge a jot in its determination to clamp down on secessionist elements, Ma said all necessary options are on the table.
The historical trend toward a stronger China, national rejuvenation, and cross-Strait reunification cannot be stopped by any force or anyone, he stressed.
